New Tools Include One Click to Reconvene Online Meetings, Version 2.0 Advances Team Collaboration, KM Integration
Chicago, IL - 2002-11-04 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, today introduced Livelink MeetingZone 2.0, which offers a more flexible platform for online team meetings and new features such as the ability to reconvene meetings with a click to carry over unfinished business. With globally dispersed teams becoming a fact of life in large organizations, MeetingZone 2.0 helps people around the world work together effectively without travel, and gives companies a fast ROI by improving productivity, saving time and reducing costs.
Open Text introduced MeetingZone 2.0 at Live LinkUp 2002, its annual user conference held this week in Chicago. The solution offers a more interactive Web-based meeting environment, and continues Open Text's thorough integration between knowledge management and collaboration in Livelink. While there are promises of similar solutions from competitors, none have been able to offer the same level of integration. MeetingZone 2.0 enhances Livelink's position as the industry s only truly tested solution for integrated collaboration and knowledge management.
The new MeetingZone provides a structure for teams to not only be more productive during a meeting, but also to improve planning ahead of a meeting and follow-up afterwards. Meeting information, notes and other content are saved in Livelink after a meeting has ended, enabling Livelink's metadata, classifications, workflows and other knowledge management features to be applied, so important meeting information can flow directly into an organization s knowledge repository. The ability to reconvene meetings is a popular feature in the new version, enabling participants to address unfinished agenda items and carry over content from the previous meeting.
"Global companies today depend on people working together over long distances, but the tools they use to collaborate the telephone conference call and e-mail lack the capabilities for more effective interactions," said Anik Ganguly, Executive Vice President of Products at Open Text. "When geography and time zones separate members of a project team, they need collaborative tools that allow them to work together as if they were in the same conference room. MeetingZone builds structure and processes into collaboration, so meetings are more productive; provides greater interactivity to keep people engaged; and offers ways to track actions, decisions and tasks, even revisit meeting details or results long after the team's project is completed."
