Siemens Business Services and Open Text Announce Premier Alliance to Kick-Start Knowledge Management in Asia Pacific
Partnership to Provide Customers Comprehensive Collaboration and KM Solutions
Singapore - 2002-07-15 - At the Knowledge Management Asia 2002 conference, Siemens Business Services, a fully owned subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI), and Open Text Corporation, (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, today announced an Asia Pacific-wide alliance.
Committed to the competitive value of collaboration and knowledge management, Siemens and Open Text have agreed to partner on a regional scale for the benefit of mutual clients. Under the partnership agreement, Siemens and Open Text will extend their market reach by including Livelink as the preferred knowledge management offering in the Siemens Business Services Global Portfolio of products. Open Text will operate as a Siemens premier partner, providing Livelink and Livelink-based collaborative applications; Siemens will also operate as an Open Text Affinity Partner in Asia Pacific, providing fully complementary collaboration and knowledge management solutions across the entire consult-design-build-operate-maintain service value chain.
Siemens Business Services is one of the world's leading providers of IT infrastructure solutions and services. Having achieved many successful deployments of Livelink within the company itself, Siemens has developed a wealth of experience in integrating Livelink, and other complementary technologies. It understands fully what it takes to create a valuable KM framework, strategy and roadmap, in a very complex environment, and how to ensure that such investments yield returns for the company.
"Siemens is uniquely qualified to provide Livelink consulting, integration, service and support," said John Shackleton, President of Open Text. "Forming the foundation for this premier alliance, Siemens has consistently demonstrated its competency and expertise by applying Livelink as a global enterprise solution for collaboration and knowledge management both within Siemens* and for external clients."
"Livelink is more than another product we've added to our portfolio. It is a tried-and-tested solution Siemens relies on internally as the backbone of our knowledge management strategy for more than 80,000 users," said Werner Marx-Aurnhammer, Vice President, Solution Business MNC Programs, Siemens Business Services. "Our success in the KM area has been duly recognized in the annual assessment made by the heads of the Fortune Global 500 companies and KM experts around the world**. We know very well the essence of KM, and we are committed to sharing this with our clients in Asia Pacific."
* IDC recently published a study describing Siemens' new initiative called The Nexus Project, an integration of Open Text's Livelink with SAP R/3®. The IDC case study can be found at www.opentext.com/siemens/.
