Open Text Shipping Real-Time Virtual Team Collaboration Technology to Achieve Greater Efficiency and Productivity
Las Vegas, NV - 2001-11-07 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC) today began shipping Livelink MeetingZone , powerful new real-time collaboration for Livelink®, the world's most widely deployed team collaboration software platform. MeetingZone meets the increased demand for real-time conferencing capabilities that enable team collaboration without requiring costly and time-consuming travel.
MeetingZone was introduced today to the worldwide install base of Open Text at LiveLinkUp 2001, Open Text's annual user conference held this week at The Bellagio in Las Vegas.
"The productivity and quality of work generated by any organization is primarily driven by team collaboration," said John Shackleton, President of Open Text. "MeetingZone facilitates greater team collaboration, regardless of location, and extends the value of Livelink by enabling organizations to capture meeting detail to build on, rather than repeatedly duplicate, their work."
Unlike stand-alone real-time collaboration tools where all the participants input data is lost after the meeting ends, MeetingZone is tightly integrated feature of Livelink, an end-to-end collaborative knowledge management platform. MeetingZone lets customers conduct meetings on demand, in real-time from their existing Web browser in a dynamic workspace. As part of Livelink, MeetingZone does not require additional software installations and enables meeting participants to easily retrieve project-related information and automatically capture meeting information in the Livelink repository.
Initial customers that have evaluated MeetingZone include: Agfa-Geavert, General Electric, Pfizer, Primavera, a US government agency, and Veridian.
Customer reaction to the MeetingZone launch, include:
"My company needs to stop wasting time on travel, meet now and get things done using tools like MeetingZone."
"Most of the Web meeting products I looked at require high speed network connections. MeetingZone runs over dial up lines."
"Using MeetingZone with our Livelink installation, we are able to keep all our communications, instant messaging and data securely inside our firewall."
According to Tony Roberts, project leader of Nortel Networks, an Open Text customer: "Dynamic, interactive online collaboration is a key attribute of Nortel's high performance integrated project teams. The virtual team environment, where the intellectual capital of talented personnel can be captured and levered across the organization, significantly impacts product time to market. Given the current cost-alignment pressures facing many companies today, the value proposition of integrated, real-time online project workspaces is stronger than ever before."
MeetingZone includes a variety of features and functions that make it easy to schedule and conduct virtual team meetings, including:
