Hotelplan Suisse Group Chooses Livelink for Collaboration and Knowledge Management Group-Wide

Livelink's Functionalities Met Almost 100 percent of Hotelplan's Requirements

St. Gallen, Switzerland - 2001-08-20 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), a worldwide leader in delivering collaborative commerce solutions, today announced that the Hotelplan Suisse Group, the second largest tourism company in Switzerland, chose Livelink® as its platform for group-wide knowledge management and collaboration. Livelink met almost 100 percent of Hotelplan's requirements. Fully integrating with Hotelplan's Microsoft-based IT infrastructure, Livelink increases the quality of the company's consulting performance and optimizes the collaboration between the various group members and teams.

Hotelplan presented stringent requirements during its evaluation of collaborative knowledge management products. These requirements ranged from central data storage; content and document management, including version control and full text retrieval; integrated workflow capabilities; seamless integration with the existing Windows-based infrastructure, decentralized document capture without HTML expertise; and the ability to scale across the Hotelplan enterprise. Hotelplan ultimately decided between a custom, internally-developed solution and Livelink from Open Text.

"The opportunity to deploy Livelink as an extranet solution and use it as a content management system was another key factor in our decision to choose the fully Web-based Open Text solution."

Livelink is currently used as Hotelplan's intranet solution with implementation by Open Text AG, Open Text's Suisse subsidiary. As a result, more than 1,000 group employees have full access to all company information, categorized according to various topics. In order to maintain updated information, content is automatically reviewed at regular intervals. When a pre-defined deadline is passed, content is easily updated or designated to be archived, deleted or set to inactive status as defined by pre-determined rules.

Hotelplan's experience with Livelink has been very positive to date, as indicated by customer responsiveness and increased quality of employee consulting performance. In order to further increase business efficiency, Hotelplan is working on re-engineering its communication and business processes based on Livelink's workflow and virtual team collaboration features.
