Open Text To Host Annual User Conference On November 5-9 At The Bellagio In Las Vegas
LiveLinkUp 2001 to Recognize Customer Excellence in Collaborative and Knowledge Management Solutions
Waterloo, ON - 2001-08-07 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), a worldwide leader in delivering collaborative commerce solutions, today announced it will host its annual user conference LiveLinkUp 2001 on November 5-9 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada. LiveLinkUp 2001 will be a celebration of customer innovation, featuring the first annual LiveLinkUp Awards, where more than 2,000 users, partners and other business professionals are expected to gather for one of the world's largest conferences focused on collaborative commerce.
Open Text has tripled the size of this year's user conference agenda. LiveLinkUp 2001 will feature more than 200 compelling sessions, keynote presentations by industry leaders and Open Text's senior management team, training programs, and product demonstrations focused on advanced applications and solutions based on Livelink. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in technical discussions with the developers and designers of Livelink. The conference will also feature customized sessions focused on Livelink products including BASIS, Techlib, iRIMS, and many others. Open Text products are deployed in more than 4,500 enterprises representing 5 million users around the globe.
"We attended Open Text's annual user conference in San Antonio last year, and it played a key role in helping us accelerate the benefits of Livelink," said Gary Underwood, senior systems analyst at Eastman Chemical Company. "Eastman has realized significant and measurable increases in productivity and efficiency through Livelink-enabled applications for automating business processes and more effectively sharing knowledge across the enterprise. Open Text's user conference provided the training, information sharing and collaboration with other Livelink users that we needed to effectively execute our own successful deployment of Livelink."
"LivelinkUp 2001 provides one of the best opportunities for our customers to maximize return on investment in Open Text solutions. We are particularly excited about this year's conference as it coincides with a unique milestone: Open Text's 10th anniversary as a company focused on using Internet technology to create greater business efficiency and success," said Andrew Pery, Open Text's senior vice president of global marketing. "Continued learning about Livelink is important, since we are constantly adding new features and applications. Open Text estimates that if our users learned to be only 5% more efficient with their current Livelink deployments, they would pay for the cost of attending the conference."
First Annual LiveLinkUp Awards
In recognition of Open Text's 10th anniversary and in honor of the customers who drive its success, LiveLinkUp 2001 will feature the first annual LiveLinkUp Awards. Awards will be recognized in categories representing best-of-class customer and partner solutions and applications based on any one or a combination of Open Text products, including Livelink, BASIS, Techlib, WorkSMART, iRIMS, BRS/Search, ODOC, and Open Image. Awards will be recognized in seven solutions categories and two applications categories using Livelink. And, there will be LiveLinkUp Awards recognizing superior return on investment realized through a solution or application using Livelink.

"It is customer innovation that constantly challenges us to enhance the value of Livelink, and we look forward to learning more about the ways our customers are deploying it to achieve a competitive edge."
A Celebration of Great Minds
Building on the theme introduced by its recently launched global advertising campaign, Open Text s user conference will be a celebration of the "great minds" who are pioneering advanced collaborative knowledge management strategies. LiveLinkUp 2001 is organized around three central topics:
- Managing Intellectual Capital Through Virtual Teams Intangible assets are an increasingly important element of any organizations value. At the conference, we'll demonstrate how Open Text provides integrated solutions that enable organizations to effectively manage intellectual capital and improve productivity through virtual teams.
- Extending the Reach of Your Great Minds Open Text will focus on the latest developments in collaborative and knowledge management technology, including extending the benefits of your collaborative capabilities with wireless access and real-time meeting functionality.
- Collaborating to Build Successful Application Solutions The conference will feature award-winning, best-in-class customer and partner application solutions. Customers and keynote speakers will share insight into how they have achieved high return on investment with Open Text solutions.
"For the last two years, Open Text's user conference has been instrumental in planning our strategic deployment of Livelink," said Lance Griffith, program manager, service delivery, process development & implementation, Sprint E|Solutions. "It features quality content that delivers real business value, a chance to interact with and learn from other Livelink users, and opportunity to provide Open Text with input on Livelink's continued development. We look forward to attending our third user conference this year in Las Vegas."
