Hewlett Packard Japan Chooses Livelink For Collaborative Knowledge Management

Livelink Improves Collaboration, Data Sharing and Document Management

Chicago, IL - 1999-05-06 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX; TSE:OTC), the worldwide leader of Web-based collaborative knowledge management application software, announced today that Hewlett Packard Japan has chosen Livelink® for its knowledge management needs.

Hewlett Packard Japan required a full-featured collaborative knowledge management application that enables knowledge workers across the organization to collaborate on new projects and reuse documents to improve efficiencies across the company.

"We chose Livelink for its robust collaborative knowledge management capabilities, scalability and modular architecture. We needed an off-the-shelf solution that could easily adapt to our changing needs as new technology emerges and new users are added to our system," said Mr. Shinichi Okada, Knowledge Center Manager, HP Consulting, Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd. "In just a few months, we have seen dramatic increases in the way our employees work. With Livelink, our consultants share information more readily, collaborate on new projects and reuse strategies and documents previously developed by co-workers."

"Hewlett Packard's choice of Livelink again illustrates the strong demand for a truly Web-based enterprise knowledge management solution that can be deployed rapidly across an organization in multiple languages including Kanji and double byte character sets," said Dan Latendre, Vice President, Product Marketing, Open Text Corporation. "Hewlett Packard joins an extensive list of the world's largest organizations that are realizing the benefits collaborative knowledge management solutions bring to their business."

Our Affinity Partner, Canon Sales which has localized and been selling Livelink, played an active role in HP Japan's decision to implement Livelink.

This announcement further strengthens Open Text's relationship with Hewlett Packard, building on previously announced deals in Germany and the United States. In Germany, Hewlett Packard and Open Text have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement where Hewlett Packard will not only be an official Livelink distributor, but will also be offering HP webSET, a new solution for collaborative project management based on Livelink. In the United States, Hewlett Packard is using Livelink WorkSMART for dynamic XML publishing on the Web.
