Inter-organizational Collaborative CommerceLivelink 9 sets a new standard for inter-organizational collaboration by building on its strengths in Web-based workflow and extending it to support integration with SCM, CRM and ERP applications through its XML interfaces. Using Livelink 9 s intuitive graphical interface and workflow, it is easy to define sophisticated business processes.
"One of the keys to delivering quality products and services is developing a solution that is able to streamline and facilitate significant business processes, "said Pasi Rinta-Filppula, Director of Information Processing Services, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Central Secretariat. "Livelink 9 provides the set of tools necessary to automate processes throughout global enterprises, and to decrease the amount of time spent following routine procedures."
Livelink 9 s shared workspaces support business relationships and collaboration between vendors, suppliers, customers and partner communities.
Integration Platform for Collaborative ApplicationsBy using its XML-based interfaces to integrate with SCM, CRM and ERP applications, Livelink 9 makes it easier to create applications that support interactions among staff, customers, suppliers and partners.
"The enhancements made in Livelink 9 are further evidence that Open Text is committed to providing open and scalable products using industry standards, said Andrew Pery, Vice President of Global Marketing, Open Text. By embracing XML, we have extended Livelink 9 to facilitate interoperability and the bi-directional transfer of data. Essentially, the infrastructure built into Livelink 9 provides the ability to communicate with other software and third party portals, effectively leveraging our customers investments in legacy data and applications."
Excellence in Meta DataLivelink 9 sets a new standard in the organization and management of intellectual assets by providing powerful metadata management capabilities. Users can easily build HTML forms to associate sophisticated category and attribute information with any object in Livelink. Coupled with advanced search capabilities, this new feature enables users to build powerful cataloguing systems for objects such as documents, drawings and images.
According to Sean Barnum, Director of Knowledge Management of Complete Business Solutions, Inc., "A tremendous amount of information is generated at CBSI much of which needs to be kept on file indefinitely. We intend to leverage Livelink 9 s strong metadata capabilities to create sophisticated taxonomies that blend structured and unstructured information to create real business value across many projects and practices."
Enhanced User InterfaceThe user s first introduction to the enhancements in Livelink 9 is the new user interface that is more modern and easier to use. To Improve navigation and speed, Livelink 9 incorporates pop-up menus that present a Windows-like appearance. Making use of Livelink s new XML capabilities, organizations can create custom user interfaces which offer Livelink s collaborative features within a Web site look and feel, without incurring any of the costs associated with programming.
Livelink 9 Offline module allows users to have ready access to critical information even when they are not connected to the network. The Offline module synchronizes with the Livelink repository, ensuring that the most current version of the information is always available.
"Key elements in Livelink's user interface have been enhanced in this new version," said George Rathbun, Technical Lead, Clinical Systems, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. "Additional drop-down menus mean fewer 'clicks' to get to where you want to go, making navigation easier and quicker. Generally improving the user experience with Livelink 9, the user interface also allows for greater personalization and customization."
Added Security for collaborative commerce applicationsLivelink 9 is enhanced with powerful security features. In order to protect its customers significant investments in mission critical data, Open Text has integrated award-winning encryption software from RSA Security Inc. into Livelink 9.
These added security features enable Livelink 9 users to safely transfer information over public networks.
