Around the World in Eight Days Open Text Hosts LiveLinkUp 2000 And KM FORUM 2000

Conference attendees will witness the unveiling of Livelink 9 and learn how Open Text's collaborative commerce platform manages critical e-business knowledge

Waterloo, ON - 2000-10-12 - Open Text(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq:OTEX - news; TSE:OTC - news), a worldwide leader of collaborative commerce software for e-business, today announced that, spanning an eight day period in October, it will host its annual Users' Conference in North America and an international symposium in Europe, bringing together some 2,000 users, partners, customers and industry experts from around the world.

LiveLinkUp 2000, Open Text's fifth annual worldwide Users' Conference, will be held October 28-31 in San Antonio, Texas. Open Text will also host its International Knowledge Management Symposium, KM Forum 2000, from October 24-25 in Paris, France. Over 2000 users are slated to attend the conferences to hear how today's most innovative enterprises manage, create and share corporate knowledge using Open Text's collaborative commerce applications.

"Increasing business pressures have forced organizations to look beyond their own four walls to create strategic partnerships. These partnerships require more than a simple level of information sharing," said Alan Weintraub, Research Director, Gartner. "Collaborative commerce (c-commerce) creates an environment that encourages extended collaboration across the new virtual supply chain, enabling enterprises to take advantage of new and better opportunities."

Attendees of LiveLinkUp 2000 will witness the unveiling of Livelink® 9, the newest version of Open Text's proven e-business platform for collaborative commerce. In addition to Livelink 9 product presentations and demonstrations, LiveLinkUp 2000 will include sessions with industry experts, training tutorials, valuable networking opportunities, as well as guest speakers from leading organizations around the world, like Kevin J. Northover of Merrill Lynch. Conference sponsors include ESPS, Formark, Kofax Imaging Products, b2bScene, Burke Consortium, Adobe, Cardiff, PureEdge and Morningstar.

"'No Boundaries' is not only this year's theme at LiveLinkUp 2000, it reflects the ideal business model envisioned by Open Text," said Andrew Pery, Vice President of Global Marketing, Open Text. "With collaborative commerce in mind, we have designed Livelink to help create an open business model one that brings together companies, employees, customers and partners. By providing e-business applications that break down geographical barriers, Open Text empowers innovative enterprises to achieve dynamic collaboration across a supply chain community."

Taking place at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France, Open Text's 3rd International Knowledge Management Symposium, KM Forum 2000, will include workshops and product demonstrations, as well as conferences and exhibits delivered by key players in the knowledge management arena. Those attending the conference will gather to communicate and collaborate with industry experts and to learn about the competitive and organizational value of implementing knowledge management solutions.
