Open Text Forges Strategic Partnership With Epicentric To Provide Comprehensive E-Business Solution

Open Text s Open Interchange Architecture Extends the Power of Livelink to Epicentric s Portal Server

San Francisco, CA - 2000-08-08 - At the Epicentric Summit 2000 conference and exhibition, Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), the leading provider of collaborative intranet, extranet and e-business applications, today announced a strategic partnership with Epicentric Inc., the leading provider of next generation e-commerce portals. The agreement will provide mutual customers with single point access to content, legacy applications and structured data within an organization.

Epicentric is the first portal server vendor to take advantage of Open Text s Open Interchange Architecture (OIA) since its introduction last week. Facilitating the development of e-business applications, the OIA enables the integration of Epicentric s portal server capabilities with the robust collaborative functions of Livelink®, Open Text s collaborative environment for the development of Web-based intranets, extranets and e-business applications.

This agreement enables Open Text and Epicentric to collaborate and cooperate in gaining new customers, extending Epicentric s established customer base to Open Text and, conversely, extending Open Text s established client base to Epicentric.

Our partnership with Open Text gives users innovative new options in developing their e-business solutions, said Kathleen Hayes, Vice President of Business Development at Epicentric. Open Text customers can now choose to deploy the Epicentric Portal Server, providing complete customization and personalization while delivering and managing Internet content, applications and e-commerce services. In addition, by providing access to Livelink s powerful collaborative capabilities through Epicentric Portal Server, Epicentric customers gain key e-business services such as virtual team collaboration, business process automation, enterprise group scheduling and information retrieval services.

Integration between Epicentric Portal Server and Livelink is achieved by leveraging myLivelink®, a collaborative knowledge portal for e-business applications that gives users a personalized interface to Livelink. Customers are able to take advantage of myLivelink s best-of-breed portal access to Livelink without having to create and support custom Epicentric modules to provide Livelink access. Since administration and configuration of Livelink controls are provided directly from within Epicentric Portal Server, users are not required to maintain separate myLivelink accounts. In addition, new controls for accessing Livelink can be easily deployed and exposed within the Epicentric Portal Server by adding them to myLivelink.

We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Epicentric. Using the Open Interchange Architecture to integrate Livelink with Epicentric Portal Server has enabled us to provide customers with a single point of access to Web services, legacy systems, collaborative commerce capabilities, and more, said Andrew Pery, Vice President of Global Marketing, Open Text. Some of the key features of the OIA are low administration requirements, ease-of-deployment and maintenance, and high scaleability. In addition, organizations are able to build next-generation collaborative e-commerce solutions through a distributed architecture that spans multiple portal servers and Livelink instances.
