Swissair Selects Open Text s Livelink and mylivelink as Collaborative Intranet Solution
Livelink s powerful capabilities and ease-of-use to enhance virtual team collaboration and myLivelink s collaborative portal to improve efficiency
St. Gallen, Switzerland - 2000-05-16 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), the leading provider of collaborative intranet, extranet and e-business applications, announced Swissair/Sabena Airline Management Partnership (AMP) has chosen Livelink® and myLivelink as its collaborative intranet solution for the Product Development and Management division. Swissair chose Livelink for its knowledge management, information retrieval, and virtual team collaboration functionality, expecting to significantly enhance current business processes.
"We feel strongly that Livelink will streamline processes in the Product Development and Management section, allowing Swissair to supply our customers with top-quality products much sooner," says Annemarie Fraefel McLaren, Product Development Manager at Swissair/Sabena Airline Management Partnership (AMP). "Livelink enables our employees to quickly find and publish information, create virtual teams and collaborate, without needing any help from a webmaster. This ease-of-use improves efficiency and supports us in meeting our customers requirements much faster."
The quality of the products offered aboard the aircraft, as well as on the ground, depends a great deal on the quality of the information supplied and on employees being able to communicate with each other. In the past, information was centrally stored on servers and was not accessible to all employees. In addition, proper search tools were missing. This resulted in a tremendous loss of information and wasted time. In choosing Livelink, Product Development wanted an out-of-the-box, Web-based knowledge management and information retrieval solution that was highly scaleable and allowed both the Brussels and Zurich based teams to be able to retrieve data from a centralized repository and organize virtual team collaboration across geographical borders.
"We are pleased that Swissair has chosen Livelink and myLivelink to enhance its business processes," said Andrew Pery, Vice President, Marketing, Open Text. "By deploying Livelink across the Product Development section, Swissair is able to decrease its production cycle considerably on new products, thereby speeding delivery to customers."
After evaluating a number of products, Livelink was recognized as the solution meeting all these requirements. In addition, Open Text was able to offer its new product myLivelink, a collaborative portal for virtual teams enabling members to personalize access to information repositories.
