Open Text Partners with XIS to Extend Livelink s Collaborative Commerce Capabilities
XIS extends Livelink functionality with new product development expertise
Waterloo, ON - 2000-04-18 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), the leading provider of collaborative intranet, extranet and e-business applications, today announced a partnership with XIS Incorporated to extend Livelink® s collaborative commerce capabilities with Novare, a new XIS product development e-business application.
XIS is an Open Text Affinity partner and a leading developer of enterprise applications for product lifecycle management. Powered by Livelink, Novare is an out-of-the-box, Web-based application that supports the entire new product development process, which is a key element of collaborative commerce. By managing new product development more effectively, a company is better able to anticipate resource demand, create greater pipeline efficiency, implement best practice processes and reduce time to market.
New product development is perhaps the most critical business process driving success within Global 2000 companies, said Andrew Pery, Vice President, Global Marketing, Open Text. By combining Livelink s robust collaborative architecture with XIS expertise, Novare furthers Livelink s collaborative commerce capabilities by streamlining new product development lifecycles, reducing time to market and directly impacting profitability.
Our partnership with Open Text has enabled us to leverage Livelink s functionality to develop a solution which drives innovation and truly enables collaborative commerce, said Paul Webb, President, XIS Incorporated. Our customers have found that Novare reduces development time and dramatically increases productivity, giving companies a significant competitive edge at a time when being first to market has never been more important.
XIS has solicited user feedback about Novare through an extensive beta program with several Global 2000 customers, including Silicon Graphics Inc.
Having identified the need for effective portfolio management in our industry, we went looking for a product that would allow us better visibility and management of our existing product portfolio, said Mike Deussen, SGI s IPPD (Integrated Product and Process Development) architect. Novare does just that by providing exceptional decision support for portfolio optimization. And it does this while allowing for the consistent deployment of product development process across multiple programs.
