The GlobalStar Enterprise Awards are presented annually at the OpenText user conference, Enterprise World. OpenText customers from around the world are recognized for their outstanding efforts in deriving business value from innovative and successful EIM deployments.
This year's finalists have demonstrated the highest level of achievement using both creative and innovative approaches to managing content across their organizations. The awards were mapped to the driving business values with Enterprise Information Management. OpenText also recognized a Ground-Breaker award winner, five EIM Best Practices Awards, an ROI Award, and the 2012 winner for Overall Strategic Success.
Overall Winner - Strategic Success
Energen Corporation. Energen Corporation, a growing oil and gas exploration and production company complemented by a single-state natural gas utility, is using Content Server 10, Records Management, and several OpenText products for SAP Solutions that extends the value of the SAP Business Suite. The Enterprise Information Management technologies and business solutions help drive faster decision making and reduce risks related to information governance. The EIM system has become an integral part of Energen with the company experiencing a paradigm shift from manual processing and data silos to user collaboration and workflows enabling the company to take full advantage of enterprise information for better business insight. Ground-Breaker Award
DDR Corp. DDR Corp. used the OpenText Mobile Wave platform to develop their mobile property portfolio application. The application is accessible on the Apple iPad, iPhone and Android devices and provides on-the-go access to up-to-date information about their property portfolio. Users can access high definition photos of a property, view a site plan, and perform an advanced search where a map view displays pin drop locations of other tenants and retailers in the area. The app enhances the real-time sales process and improves the tenant experience. GlobalStar Enterprise ROI Award
Pfizer. Pfizer, the world’s leading biopharmaceutical company, has adopted OpenText MBPM as a global standard for process automation and integration. OpenText’s Business Process Management solution is used to automate over a dozen business-critical processes across R&D, Commercial Operations, Finance and Legal. In addition, Pfizer has created and operationalized a BPM Center of Excellence enabling the company to deploy new projects independently utilizing in-house skills they have developed over time. Their implementations have helped produce tangible business results with one project delivering over 200% ROI in just six months.
GlobalStar Enterprise Award – Business Insight
The Globe and Mail. The Globe and Mail, Canada’s largest national newspaper, is using OpenText Semantic Navigation and OpenText Content Analytics as part of their web and newspaper publishing workflows. Semantic Navigation is used to generate many of the pages on the site, saving the newspaper considerable time and money. Content Analytics automatically suggests metadata for all of the published articles. It also suggests similar articles to the ones being written or edited, which allows the newspaper to create a much better user experience and keep people on their site much longer. GlobalStar Enterprise Award – Process Velocity
Larsen & Toubro Infotech Financial Services Technologies Inc. L&T Infotech FSTI, the leading provider of transfer agency, fund administration, asset management software products and services in Canada is using OpenText’s workflow technology Case360 to help them achieve their goal of designing a robust and highly configurable workflow system to meet the needs of the financial services and insurance industries. The cloud hosted solution offered in a SAAS model is built on a multi-tenancy framework with a focus on time to market and cost of ownership. From a design standpoint, the goal was to deliver a highly configurable solution supplied through easy to administer business setup, pre-built integration with Unitrax®, their transfer agency recordkeeping platform, and open source integration with other backend administration systems, including multiple data sources for advanced dynamic dashboard reporting.
GlobalStar Enterprise Award – Information Governance
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID),National Institutes of Health, U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. NIAID has created a true enterprise-wide ECM platform to support its many disparate groups and applications. More than 2,500 active workflow instances and 75 applications are currently in production, with plans to continue growing the enterprise system. Their electronic document and records management system supports mission critical scientific, clinical and administrative processes and the content repository houses tens of thousands of documents. Voith IT Solutions. Voith IT Solutions is using OpenText Content Server 10, Archive Server 10 and Enterprise Connect as the foundation for ‘Datasafe,’ a secure document management system. The secure environment fulfills their business requirements related to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of their documents and systems. The application is available within the whole Voith Group of companies for all senior executives that are involved in strategic decisions and all departments handling sensitive data. The highly secure system is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Office allowing executives to easily access and interact with content and systems enabling enhanced collaboration.
EIM Best Practices – EIM Ecosystem
SourceGas. Using OpenText StreamServe™, SourceGas, a natural gas utility service provider to Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and Arkansas, was able to integrate information from their various business systems with their SAP CRM and Billing applications. The company also implemented OpenText Document Access for SAP® Solutions to gain a 360-degree view of all customer communications and billings, across multiple communication channels. Measurable benefits include increased revenue from targeted marketing for their non-regulated business, decreased costs associated with difficult and time-consuming change management processes , and reduced customer inquiries to the call center resulting in improved customer satisfaction. EIM Best Practices – Social Communities
Institute of Public Administration of Canada. The Institute of Public Administration of Canada launched a cloud-enabled platform for the public sector around the world called “Public Service Without Borders (pswb.net).” Public servants from anywhere in the world at any time can access PSWB.net to network, share documents, engage with peers and impart valuable lessons learned. The cloud-enabled collaboration and social media site is based on OpenText’s Tempo Social. The system provides a secure, mobile device accessible environment where the users own the data and the intellectual property and is best used for purpose driven projects. Today there are over 4,000 registered users and some 47 open and private communities, each of which are very different in structure and objective and serving the need to collaborate across borders and jurisdictions in a secure environment. EIM Best Practices - Digital Media
Rosetta Stone. Rosetta Stone, the world’s leading language-learning technology company, is using OpenText Media Management to house over a million assets including photos, images, artwork and audio/video. OpenText’s digital asset management system acts as the central repository for all rich media digital assets, enabling the reuse and repurposing of content. Rosetta Stone has also leveraged the system to extend the value of creative content such as in-house and stock photography, resulting in significant savings to the organization.
EIM Best Practices - Cloud Services for ECM
U.S. Department of the Interior. The U.S. Department of the Interior is transforming the way it is delivering IT services by using OpenText in the Cloud. With this solution, users will have full access to OpenText’s ECM suite including document and records management, email archiving, early case assessment, eDiscovery and mobility capabilities for the entire organization, all housed in a Federal Information Security Management Act-compliant cloud from OpenText partner, The IQ Business Group. The system will initially support the agency’s more than 80,000 employees and contractors, with capacity for almost 40,000 additional users making it the largest cloud-based records and information governance program in the Federal Government. Western Cape Government Health. Leveraging the OpenText ECM Suite, Western Cape Government Health has established a common enterprise architecture to support some key document management processes for several projects across the Department of Health. Substantial benefits include a move towards a paperless environment and improved workflow processes. The quick retrieval of relevant information has led to efficient and effective business processes, ultimately enhancing service to the public.
