Congratulations 2010 GlobalStar Enterprise Award Winners!

The GlobalStar Enterprise Awards are presented annually at the OpenText user conference, Content World. OpenText customers from around the world are recognized for their outstanding efforts in deriving business value from innovative and successful ECM deployments.

This year's finalists have demonstrated the highest level of achievement using both creative and innovative approaches to managing content across their organization. The awards were mapped to the three value pillars of the ECM Suite - Lifecycle; Transaction and Engagement. OpenText also recognized a Ground-Breaker award winner, three ECM Best Practices Awards, and an ROI Award winner.

Ground-Breaker Award

Multiquip: Multiquip represents the first deployment of OpenText Social Workplace. The company built a user community that brings together a broad range of stakeholders and has essentially built a new corporate culture of sharing and collaborating together. Today, Multiquip has a vibrant user community using Social Workplace whenever collaboration is needed. This includes external partners, service providers, and more. The communities range from management collaboration, classical project management and sales, to Human Resources, wellness programs and audits. GlobalStar Enterprise ROI Award

The London Borough of Hackney. Savings, efficient business processes, and improved records management were the core reasons for introducing their Council Document Management software based on OpenText electronic document and records management technology. Their information management has been a key part of supporting their services to work better and faster, at less cost. GlobalStar Enterprise Award - Lifecycle

Winner: Sprint. Sprint turned to OpenText to help reduce legal exposure and associated costs, and avoid long term storage costs by implementing records management and classification practices. While the implementation is still underway, Sprint has seen tremendous progress having classified over 8.5 million documents. The OpenText software has enabled the company to gain control over the number of records in existence as well as those being created on a daily basis. Sprint has also been able to reclaim over 500GB worth of storage space as people are cleaning up in addition to classifying content. Runner Up: The Canadian Space Agency. OpenText Content Server is used at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Governmental information created or received in the course of conducting official business at the CSA is stored in the document management repository. With the help of OpenText technology, the CSA has improved public accountability by reducing the risk of lost or unmanaged electronic and paper documents, ensuring compliance with government regulations.

GlobalStar Enterprise Award - Engagement

Winner: Terra Latin America & USA. Terra is one of the biggest sites in the world, and the #1 exclusive media portal on the internet. There are around 65 million unique users on all of their sites. Terra is successfully deploying the OpenText Web Experience Management Suite on many of their sites, with approximately 500 globally distributed business users. Within the next two years, the company plans to manage all its internet content, on all of their sites, using Web Experience Management. As a result, Terra expects to generate content faster and more efficiently, leading to more unique visitors on their portals, which maps directly to better results for their advertising and marketing campaigns.

Runner Up: District of Columbia Government, Office of the Chief Technology Officer. Within the District of Columbia government there are over 80 agencies that people go to for services and information, each with its own Web site. To best manage the information, the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) operates DC.gov. The DC.gov portal offers visitors quick, centralized access to each agency's Web site, the ability to complete numerous service transactions online, and find needed information about the District with minimal searching. Using OpenText Web Experience Management and OpenText Portal, OCTO created a variety of homepage, landing page and listing templates that agencies could pick and choose from to meet their needs. This created a standard look and feel across the sites while allowing customizations to fit each agency's individual needs. OCTO is about to launch the new mobile version as well. GlobalStar Enterprise Award - Transaction

Winner: Menzis. Menzis is using the Transactional Content Processing (TCP) capabilities of the OpenText ECM Suite to digitize and store all documents that are generated by the Oracle system, which totals about 245,000 documents per week. The call centers who handle customer service, the employees who manage claims, along with policy and contract management staff can instantly access all the information they need electronically. Communication through every possible channel - input as well as output - will be stored and made visible and accessible for clients, care providers and all Menzis departments. Clients are better served and Menzis will reduce expenses in office space and improve efficiencies because of a smarter design of company processes. Runner Up: BBVA. BBVA is the second largest bank in Spain and seventh largest financial institution in the Western world. BBVA is using OpenText Document Access for SAP Solutions to support provisioning and purchasing processes involving 60,000 users over 12 countries from budgeting to payments. The users are able to consult and attach documents online from the SAP interface. With this feature the users increase efficiencies, decreasing the paper traffic in the authorization processes and control electronically the management of all the documentation related with the provisioning process.

ECM Best Practices - ECM Ecosystem Solution

Edison Mission Energy. As part of a Procure to Pay Transformation Initiative, Edison Mission Energy selected OpenText's Vendor Invoice Management and Invoice Capture Center solutions to automate and optimize the Accounts Payable process. Through the ECM Suite's tight integration with SAP, the company was able to reduce invoice processing time; streamline the process by removing manual, non-value added steps; improve AP analytics; automate invoice handling; and centralize the AP department from eight processing centers to one.

ECM Best Practices - Digital Media

Compassion International. Using OpenText Media Management, Compassion International's raw media assets, including documents, photos, video, audio, artwork and graphics from thousands of locations by dozens of photographers are centralized, organized, and accessible to all offices and locations around the world. Users have the confidence of knowing that all assets are in one place, enabling teams and groups to work together and share assets, ensuring brand compliance and projects are completed in a timely manner. ECM Best Practices - User Adoption

Hatch. Hatch has implemented OpenText technology to address their global requirements for effective management of all documents on large capital projects. Recently, Hatch also implemented a number of Continuous Improvement Projects addressing business needs such as knowledge management, engineering progress measurement, and improved drawing management and control. The Continuous Improvement Projects have not only delivered a number of benefits internally to Hatch and increased user adoption, but also allowed the company to provide higher quality, more cost effective and robust solutions to their clients.
