Best Knowledge Management Solution

CARE International

CARE International is expanding the intranet and knowledge management solution of CARE Canada to the CARE International confederation. This involves more than 800 projects in 70 countries.

Judge's comments: "Though its roots go back deep into history, knowledge management tools, in all of their variations, are used to solve problems mainly in the business sector. To understand how CARE Canada, a non-profit agency, uses OpenText technology to provide services to developing countries is refreshing and admirable. Technology in the hands of people who want to make the world a better place is the ultimate application."

Best Collaboration Solution

Siemens Enterprise Networks

Siemens Enterprise Networks is using Livelink Enterprise Server's Program Manager to automate its Customer Engagement process.

Judge's comments: "Siemens' deployment of OpenText's Livelink Enterprise Server demonstrates how rigorous assessment and objective setting can translate to competitive advantage. While addressing modern IT and compliance requirements, Siemens also identified a unique taxonomy model to fit its sales culture and business process needs. Deployments like Siemens address consolidation and standardization, but are intuitive and transparent to the user; just the right way to improve 'business as usual'."

Best Library & Catalog Management Solution

Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory expanded its procedures to build a successful e-journal collection that manages acquisition to log analysis and includes more than 1,000 titles using Techlib.

Judge's comments: "Argonne's solution was designed with the end-user in mind. The 'Ask a Librarian' feature encourages consistent workflow eliminating end-users from having to switch to their email system to send a message."

Best Content & Document Management Solution

Britannia Airways

Britannia Airways is using Livelink Enterprise Server to provide flight information to pilots via laptops and to cabin crew via personal digital assistants, replacing paper and reducing briefing time to ensure 'on time' flight departures.

Judge's comments: "Britannia's deployment of Livelink Enterprise Server possesses many of the core components of an ECM system, though it is deployed enterprise wide and to various constituents with varying requirements. It features truly mission critical content, as well as content-in-context management and delivery options, which is one of the keys to true ECM."

Best Business Solution

AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca uses Livelink Enterprise Server to manage its standard operating procedure workflow, resulting in the creation of significant efficiencies and is one of the first organizations to fully utilize e-Sign in a Good Manufacturing Process environment.

Judge's comments: "By understanding that people, process, and content are interdependent, the knowledge management team at AstraZeneca has created a better way to manage Standard Operation Procedures. The number of end-users participating, the proven ROI and efficiency gains, the change management program, and clear expectations setting and measurement approach all contributed to their winning entry. The very comprehensive documentation of the project helped relate a story of cultural transition aided by intelligent design and development on a solid platform."

Best Records Management Solution

TransLink

TransLink has developed an integrated approach to records management using Livelink Enterprise Server that allows users to capture and index every type of corporate record, both electronic and non-electronic, and to manage their entire lifecycle; from creation to disposition, in compliance with regulations pertaining to public government bodies.

Judge's comments: "The TransLink application emphasizes the records management processes and procedures that had to be developed within their own organization as well as the capabilities of the Livelink Records Management product. TransLink not only uses records management as a highly integrated part of their collaborative and document management processes, but they have provided significant leading edge experience and requirements input that has helped OpenText to make Livelink Records Management a leading edge product in the electronic records management marketplace."
